Abstract

Prospects for the development of the country outlined in reports Poland 2030 Development Challenges, and Poland in 2050  indicate that the desired change processes, assume an important involvement of the educational system. At the same time, as one of the most important obstacles of economic and cultural development, the reports show a low level of social capital in Poland, manifesting itself in the form of very low rates of social trust. The authors present thesis that the necessary condition for the effectiveness of Polish educational system in stimulating desired changes is creating trust in both, the relationships between all participants of the system, as well as in relations of educational institutions with the wider environment. When education is based on mutual trust, the school will be able to not only become a ground for talents, but also a mainstay of the culture of cooperation and community.
